5.1 Child Protection

This chapter was updated in August 2016 and a link to the Swindon Multi Agency Risk Panel Operating Protocol added.

Child protection and safeguarding procedures provide standards for agencies and a framework to promote children's welfare and protect them from abuse and neglect. These procedures reflect the requirements of Working together to Safeguard Children.

Swindon LSCB is signed up to the South West Child Protection Procedures (SWCPP). Click here for more information about the SWCPP and access to the procedures.

Swindon LSCB has developed local multi-agency procedures and guidance to address specific issues in Swindon, click here to view the Swindon LSCB Procedures.

Swindon Multi Agency Risk Panel Operating Protocol and Terms of Reference – the Multi Agency Risk Panel (MARP) Meeting does not replace or supersede any current policy or procedure in relation to child protection. The monthly MARP meetings provide the framework to allow regular action planning and information sharing for children who are assessed to be at high risk.

The Government has recently released an updated version of What to do if you are worried a child is being abused – advice for practitioners.
